Helping Children Learn, Grow, And Build Confidence
ASPIRE Education Centers provide extra learning support for students from Grade 1 to Grade 9. Through our centers in Makadara, Mbaraki, and Serani, children receive support in Mathematics, English, Digital Literacy, and other key subjects. Many students come from overcrowded public schools or have limited access to personal learning support. Our centers give them a safe space to practice, ask questions, build confidence, and receive the attention they need to move forward.

The ASPIRE Education Centers provide learning support to students from Grade 1 to Grade 9. The program focuses on Mathematics, English, Digital Literacy, and new subjects introduced this year.
The centers give students a safe space to learn, practice, and receive personal attention. Many students come from public schools where classrooms are large, and teachers do not always have enough time to support each child one-on-one.
The program currently runs through three centers:
1: Makadara Center
Makadara Center is the main ASPIRE Education Center.
It operates from Monday to Friday and serves students from different areas, including Kiwokoni, Makadara, Old Town, Kizingo, Mwevetar, and nearby communities.
Makadara Center has become an important learning space for students who need extra academic support. Some students who attend this center have never had the opportunity to attend formal school. Through the center, they receive basic literacy support, reading practice, writing support, and personal guidance.
The center also supports students who attend public schools but need extra help outside the classroom. Many public school classrooms are overcrowded, with large numbers of students in one class. The ASPIRE Education Center gives these children a chance to receive focused support and close follow-up.
Through Makadara Center, students receive:
Makadara Center remains the strongest and most structured center in the program. It plays a central role in supporting children who need consistent academic and personal attention.
2: Mbaraki Center
Mbaraki Center operates inside Mbaraki School.
This center has shown good progress. It is well organized, and the school teachers cooperate with the ASPIRE team. The support from the school has helped learning activities run more smoothly.
Mbaraki Center also benefits from volunteer teachers and teaching practice teachers who assist during the learning sessions. Their support helps students receive more attention during class and improves the overall learning environment.
At the moment, Mbaraki Center focuses mainly on Grade 3 students. The active learning session runs from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Previously, the center also supported Grade 4 students. The Grade 4 session is currently paused because of school scheduling and class coordination. The team plans to continue working with the school to improve the structure and support more students.
Students at MBaraki Center are stronger in English compared to Serani Center, but they still need regular English practice. The learning platform uses English, so students need support to understand questions, read instructions, and answer correctly.
Through Mbaraki Center, students receive:
Mbaraki Center is showing steady growth because of strong cooperation from the school and support from volunteer teachers.
3: Serani Center
Serani Center operates inside Serani Boys Primary School.
This center mainly supports lower-grade students from Grade 1 to Grade 3. The center runs three days per week.
Serani Center gives young learners access to additional learning support, especially in English, Mathematics, and Digital Literacy. Many students at this center need help with reading, comprehension, and answering questions on the learning platform.
The center gives these students a chance to practice, learn, and receive support outside their regular classroom setting.
Through Serani Center, students receive:
Serani Center plays an important role in helping young students build a stronger learning foundation.
Across all three centers, the ASPIRE Education Centers help students improve their academic skills and confidence.
The program supports children who need extra care, especially those who struggle in large public school classrooms. It also helps students who have limited access to personal learning support.
The centers help students:
The program gives children a chance to learn at their own pace. It also helps identify students who need extra support, counseling, and close follow-up.
The ASPIRE Education Centers have created strong learning opportunities, but many students still face barriers that affect their progress.
English remains one of the biggest barriers across all centers. The learning platform uses English throughout, and many students struggle to understand questions, read instructions, and answer correctly. Students often depend on facilitators to translate questions, explain instructions, help them understand content, and guide them through answers.
At Makadara Center, some students have never attended school before. They need basic learning support from the beginning. Some cannot read, cannot write, and struggle to express themselves clearly. These children need certified teachers, one-on-one teaching, basic literacy support, counseling, close follow-up, and confidence-building support.
Many students also come from public schools where classrooms are overcrowded. In some schools, one classroom may have around 50 students. This makes it difficult for teachers to give each child personal attention. The ASPIRE Education Centers help fill this gap, but more support is needed to serve every child properly.
The centers also need more volunteer and certified teachers. Makadara Center needs certified teachers who work with students who have never attended school. Serani Center needs volunteer teachers who focus on English, reading, and comprehension. Mbaraki Center needs continued teacher support to strengthen learning and resume Grade 4 sessions.
Mbaraki Center has strong school cooperation, which has helped the program run better. Serani Center faces more challenges in this area. There is limited cooperation from school teachers, which affects the learning environment and program support.
Mbaraki Center previously supported Grade 4 students, but this session is currently paused due to school scheduling and class teacher coordination. Support is needed to help restart this group and serve more students.
